5 Ways to Stay on Track During Vacation

I’ve been on vacation in Biloxi since last Friday. In Biloxi, as you probably know, there are plenty of casinos which means plenty of all-you-can-eat buffets. Not just for dinner but for breakfast and lunch as well! How do you keep from falling off the wagon with all this temptation? Here’s the simple answer.
You just do the best you can.
Here are a few simple ways to stay on track and still have some fun!
1. Allow yourself a cheat or two!
I’m not talking about eating everything in sight but rather allowing yourself to eat some “forbidden” food. Just remember that moderation is key to your success in these situations. If you don’t feel that you can moderate your food consumption then make sure you choose the healthiest options possible. There are plenty of healthy options at these buffets…baked Tilapia, salads, vegetables.
2. Find the hotel gym
Most hotels you stay in will have a fitness center. They won’t have the selection of weights and cardio equipment your local gym has but it will be enough to negate some of those extra calories. You don’t have to live in this little gym while you’re on vacation. Just sneak down for a 30 minute cardio session to keep that metabolism going!
3. Drink plenty of water
Don’t neglect the power of water. Drink it cold. Drinking cold water forces your body to burn more calories and it keeps you hydrated…both of which keeps your metabolism going in the right direction. Every little bit helps!
4. Get out in the heat!
The pool, the beach…let’s make it hot! Sweat it out! If your having a little vacation with your alcohol, there isn’t anything better. If you’re going to have a few drinks at night, get out and sweat it out the next day. I’ve just spent 5 days in Biloxi with 95 degree weather and about 70 percent humidity. That’s pretty much the atmospheric conditions in the sauna at the Gold’s Gym I belong to!
5. Have fun!!
That’s an order!! I know that I’m guilty of taking it all too seriously at times and there is nothing better than just letting it all hang out for a few nights. You’ve worked hard and you deserve it! Just make sure you’re ready to get back on that horse when the time comes.
So, there are 5 things you can do on vacation to enjoy yourself but keep your eye on the all. Remember, we’re all human and we all should have a chance to ‘let our hair down’ a bit. I know I have this weekend!
